Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have completed a 16-hour firearms training course that is taught by a state-approved instructor. HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR ILLINOIS CCW RENEWAL
You must remember to renew your concealed carry permit in Illinois. Once you have completed all the requirements for the license, the last thing you want is for it to expire. Your renewal application will require:
- » A certificate signed by the instructor showing training completion
- » A valid FOID card & driver’s license or state ID
- » ID Photo
You may then scan the documents and send them to the Illinois State Police via their website.
VALID FOID CARD
The Firearm Owners Identification card is a required document for your initial CCW application and renewal. If you don’t have this card, you will need to contact the ISP to apply for one. The Illinois State Police website includes extensive instructions and information regarding the FOID card. You can also check the status of both your FOID and CCW application.
